  10. The OfficeTalk Data Access Toolkit provides access to your OfficeTalk
  11. database using programs such as Crystal Reports and Microsoft Access
  12. Versions 2 and 7, allowing you to create reports that are unavailable
  13. in OfficeTalk itself. In addition, data can be added to the database
  14. and existing data manipulated using tools such as Visual Basic. This
  15. provides IT Departments and System Integrators with the ability to
  16. integrate OfficeTalk more closely with other systems.

  18. The OfficeTalk Data Access Toolkit works by creating a complete set
  19. of  Data Definition Files (DDFs) for every data file in your
  20. OfficeTalk data structure. The DDFs can then be simply used by
  21. Crystal Reports to report on your data, or by Access Versions 2 or 7
  22. to create an Access Database which is linked to your data.

  24. In addition to providing access to data already available in
  25. OfficeTalk in a different form, the DDFs will also provide accesss to
  26. other information not normally available within OfficeTalk, such as
  27. Task, Booking and other record creation dates.

  29. The open version of the OfficeTalk Data Access Toolkit available for
  30. download will create DDFs for users' Diary Bookings and Task Lists.
  31. These DDFs provide full read/write access to the data tables. As such,
  32. we suggest that access to the Toolkit and any DDF's produced is
  33. restricted and that the DDFs are used with care. If you wish to
  34. generate the complete set of OfficeTalk DDFs, you will need to
  35. purchase the full license for the OfficeTalk Data Access Toolkit and
  36. obtain a password from Sareen Software.

  38. NO HARM CAN BE CAUSED TO YOUR UNDERLYING OFFICETALK DATA STRUCTURE
  39. PROVIDED DDFs ARE USED ONLY TO READ DATA.
  40.  
  41. The fully licensed version of the OfficeTalk Data Access Toolkit
  42. provides complete read/write access to any area of your OfficeTalk
  43. data structure. As such, the Toolkit could be used to modify the
  44. contents of a table without making the consequent modifications to
  45. related tables. This would destroy the referential integrity of your
  46. OfficeTalk data structure, rendering OfficeTalk at worst unusable, at
  47. best inaccurate or unreliable.

  49. Sareen Software will only issue a password for purchasers of the
  50. OfficeTalk Data Access Toolkit if the following criteria are met.

  52. The document Criteria.doc included in the download has been signed by
  53. the IT Director or Manager responsible for the OfficeTalk Workgroup,
  54. the senior Line Manager  responsible for the OfficeTalk Workgroup,
  55. the Network Supervisor, the OfficeTalk Supervisor and any Engineer
  56. responsible for any addition to or modification of the the data in
  57. your OfficeTalk data structure. (We realise that in many
  58. circumstances an individual may fulfil more than one of the above
  59. functions.)

  61. In the document the organisation undertakes that any piece of
  62. software that uses the DDFs to add data to, delete data from or
  63. modify data in the OfficeTalk data structure, will be thoroughly
  64. tested on a test OfficeTalk data structure before it is used on any
  65. live OfficeTalk data structure.

  67. The full version of the OfficeTalk Data Access Toolkit is priced at
  68. รบ500 ($750) and is available free of charge to organisations that
  69. have purchased an OfficeTalk workgroup of at least 50 users.
